Useful help joins the work

MamaDEX centres already know their own communities. Real help begins with what a centre and the Mama leading it say they actually need, not with what a visitor assumes would be useful. The Mama and her centre's recognised leadership decide what happens next; the MamaDEX team's role is to listen, route, and review what is offered, not to direct or approve work on a centre's behalf.

Fund or commission a defined centre need

Support begins with a need identified by the centre. The scope, responsibilities, cost and evidence plan are agreed before funding or commissioning proceeds. Reporting and evidence access follow the governing arrangement for that need.

Funding does not grant authority over the centre or ownership of private evidence.

Funding a centre-defined need

Funding offered in response to a need a centre has identified and agreed, not a general donation, and not a guarantee of acceptance.

Offer goods, services or capability

Equipment, materials, professional support, teaching capacity and technical services first go through centre-led review. Suitability, declared value, ownership, maintenance, spares and eventual replacement must be clear before anything is accepted.

An offer may be paid, subsidised or pro bono, but it does not grant access, appointment, influence or authority.

Practical and technical help

Repairs, installation, construction, maintenance, or other practical trade capability. Competence, safety, suitability, and responsibility are reviewed before any work begins.

Education and training

Teaching, mentoring, curriculum, skills development, or capacity building. Safeguarding and suitability are reviewed before any contact or delivery.

Equipment and infrastructure

Suitable equipment, materials, or infrastructure that responds to a need a centre has actually defined. Equipment is not accepted merely because it is available. Suitability, ownership, running costs, maintenance, consumables, training, and eventual failure or replacement are considered first.

Professional or remote support

Planning, design, engineering, legal, administrative, technical, or other professional support, delivered remotely or through a governed assignment. An unverified opinion is not acted on without review.

Perhaps a centre has already described what it needs, you already have a legitimate relationship with a Mama or centre, or you know the broad country or region. Telling us this helps us route your message. It does not grant direct access or skip the review every offer goes through.

You may have a practical skill, professional expertise, training capacity, suitable equipment, infrastructure capability, or funding for a need a centre has defined. You do not need to know which centre or country could use it. Describe what you can offer and we will help place it.

  3. The centre and its leadership decide whether it should continue.
  4. Safety, suitability, responsibilities, and practical terms are agreed before any work, visit, delivery, or funding begins.

Before anything begins

An expression of interest does not create access, approval, appointment, or authority. The centre and its leadership decide what happens next.

Review happens first, every time, before anyone:

  • enters a centre
  • meets children or vulnerable people
  • provides education or care
  • photographs, films, or interviews anyone
  • receives private records
  • installs equipment
  • gives technical, health, water, energy, food, legal, or financial advice
  • handles money or donated goods
  • represents MamaDEX or Buktika publicly
Beyond the installation

Technical help continues after installation

A local operator and technical contributor inspect an established water system, maintenance materials, and replacement parts together.

Useful infrastructure is not only the item delivered or installed. It also includes safe design, local suitability, training, ownership, maintenance, spare parts, consumables, running costs, and what happens when the system eventually fails. That responsibility is worked out with the centre before anything is installed, never assumed afterwards.

An accepted contribution may connect through MamaDEX, EduTower, Reporters, Eco Guild, or Buktika, depending on what the need actually is. The MamaDEX team works this out with the centre; a contributor does not need to contact each part separately.
